Knockout Final Won't Be Ho-hum

TALK of Sunday's Corrimal Leagues Club Knockout final clash between Cringila Lions and South Coast United being "just another pre-season game" will go out the window come game day. Coaches can talk until they are blue in the face about how the season proper is all they are thinking about, but try telling players and supporters that Sunday doesn't really matter. With the Bert Bampton Cup now an age restricted event, senior teams have just three trophies to play for each year. The league championship and grand final trophies mean a lot more, but once a team reaches a final they may as well go all-out to win it. South Coast United and Cringila Lions haven't won anything for a few years, making Sunday's match at Memorial Park all the more important. Both teams have plenty to offer in attack, with the likes of Denis Jurjevic (South Coast) and Alan Lo Proto (Cringila) proven goal scorers at this level.
